Little Monsters

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Since doing this pic of my own monster that scares Max, I’ve really been inspired to start sketching more monsters. They’re a nice dimension for doing work, because there’s absolutely no boundries associated with them. It’s great.

I’ve been posting work on Flickr the last couple of days of the sketches and now color sketches I’m working on. I kind of started yesterday with the thought and goal of just sketching 20 monsters. Nothing elaborate, just quick, small sketches. I got kind of sidetracked today, because I wanted to do some color pieces (I had only gotten through 6 sketches). So, hopefully I can keep up with my goal.

And, here are two of the color pics I worked on this afternoon,

Sketch Detail for Yellow Eyes

Monday, May 4th, 2009

This is a piece I’m working for Cory Godbey’s tribute to “Where the Wild Things Are”.  Still trying to grasp how I want to end this.  Also, trying not to lose the freshness of the sketch, guess I’ll see what happens…
